Management of music resources

In the app you will find all settings described in the following under Settings > Music Resources.

  • Adding a Media Server as a Music Resource
  • Adding a Network Share as a Music Resource
  • Adding a Music Share on Devices with AndroidTM
  • Removal of a Music Resource

Adding a media server as a music resource

When music is provided in your network via a media server, you may easily integrate it into your Raumfeld music collection as a resource.

Open Settings > Music Resources and select Add Resource. A dialogue opens in which all available media servers in the network are listed under the music server heading.
Select the media server which you would like to add from the list.

The media server is scanned and adds the music saved there to your music collection. The new titles are gradually displayed under My Music. The music server will be displayed as a music resource under Settings > Music Resources from now on.

Adding a Network Share

Open Settings > Music Resources and select Add Resource. If it isn't displayed, choose "Connect Network Share…" and manually enter the connection data. Please note that the IP address of a computer may change over time. We therefore recommend to enter the computer name in order to establish a connection.

Navigate within the folder structure to the folder which you would like to share and check it with a box.
If a user name and password are necessary for log on, you will be prompted to enter these beforehand.

After you have confirmed the dialogue, the network share is scanned and the music saved there is added to your music collection. The new titles are gradually displayed under My Music. The network share will be displayed as a music resource under Settings > Music Resources from now on.

If you wish the resource to be automatically scanned for new music every day you need to activate that option under the resource's details page. Otherwise, you will have to manually initiate a scan whenever new music has been added (see Scanning of Music Resources).

Adding a music share on Devices with Android or iOS

You may add music stored on an Android or iOS smartphone/tablet to your Raumfeld music collection. This will allow you to access that music on all Raumfeld control points under My Music. There is no need to copy the files to a USB disk or the Base - the Raumfeld players will stream directly from the Android or iOS device.
Once you've connected the Raumfeld App on an Android or iOS device with a Raumfeld system for the first time you will be prompted if you would like to share music stored on the device. Confirm that question, then switch to My Music. After a short while the device's music collection will appear under My Music.

In order to stop music sharing, deactivate the according option on your Android or iOS device under Settings > Music Resources.

Alternatively you may remove the Android or iOS device from the system's music resources on any other Raumfeld control point under Settings > Music Resources (see next section).
Please note that only those music files can be shared which are available in the default music player for Android (Android Music Player) or iOS. External online music services may protect their files in a way which does not allow access by third parties.

Removal of a Music Resource

If a resource isn't connected with the network the music which is saved on it will no longer be displayed under My Music. The entries in the music database will; however, remain until a music resource is explicitly removed.

We suggest explicitly removing music resources which you are no longer using since the efficiency of the music database can be impaired otherwise.
To completely remove a music resource from your music collection browse into the corresponding entry and select Remove resource.
